Pictures Of Pain in the studio

Yeah, Pictures Of Pain has decided to enter Black Dimension Studio again. This time they'll record a full cd.
We rigged up the drums yesterday, with mic placements and so on. And the drum sound is incredible, even without any EQ or effects, so we have a really good starting point. We'll start recording the drums today, so it's going to be a fun weekend.
I'll talk to the guys later, if it's okay to do a studio report...so stay tuned!

Ok, 2007 var et riktig bra metal år her på Haugalandet!
Vi får håpe trenden forsetter, med flere nye band, konserter osv.
Vi som jobber her i studio, har også hatt en del å tatt tak i, både demo og cd innspillinger, turnè og lignende.

2008 kommer til og bli enda mer hektisk for oss!
Vi har allerede studioet full-booket fram til rundt september,
i tillegg så skal vi som jobber med studioet øve, og ut på et par turnèer med de banda dette gjelder.
Dette blir FETT :D

Vi får også ganske mange henvendelser angående innspilling, og det er jo bare kult.
Men for øyeblikket må vi desverre avslå de fleste henvendelser, siden vi allerede har full-booket fram til september.

Throne Of Katarsis - Studio Report

Allright, Throne Of Katarsis have now entered Black Dimension Studio, to begin working on their new album.
And I have now started the Throne Of Katarsis Studio Report.
On behalf of the band we will just put out a small "general" studio report of their studio session.

YEAH...!!!!
It’s past due for a little update!
I have too much to do, so I’ve totally forgotten to update

I have updated the Black Dimension Studio logo, hope you all like it
I have also updated the SorgSvart studio report.
It's been to long without any updates...sorry!

Anyway...I'm going on a mini-tour on friday September 28th, with Throne Of Katarsis.
We'll be playing gigs in Sweden, Germany and Netherlands, so I won't be back until October 8th.

New DAW multitrack software for testing

At the moment I`m testing out a new multitrack software called REAPER.
If this product can deliver the same power, stability and workflow as Steinberg`s NUENDO,
then I`m keen on switching the studio software.
Reason for doing this, is the 64bit audio engine, it`s routing matrix, it`s free, very small(2MB)
and you can install it on an USB or other removable device for bringing it with you everywhere.
But as I stated above, I`m just testing the program at home for the time being.

I have now updated the "Tips & Tricks" section.
There are three articles for now,
RECORDING DRUMS, RECORDING GUITAR and RECORDING ACOUSTIC GUITAR.
Note that this is just some of the techniques I use, and there are many other ways to get good results.

I have also added "comments" to our website.
That means you can comment/ask questions on some of the articles posted on this site.

New Menu Section

Hell-o again metal heads

I am currently working on a new menu section, called "Tips & Tricks"
In short, I will use this section as a place where I put down some small general recording techniques,
links to various good websites regarding tips & tricks for home recording.

I have thought about this for a while now, and since I`m already doing the
"studio diary" thing where I describe some of the techniques,
I thought it would be cool to do "Tips & Tricks" as well.

I will try to update "Tips & Tricks" later this week, so stay tuned!
